Gypsy is a Sydney based award winning Australian Designer and Illustrator whose 25 year career spans feature and short films, TV series, commercials, theatre and animation.
Recent credits Gypsy costume designed include the US drama series ALL HER FAULT starring Sarah Snook for NBCU and Peacock which was filmed in Melbourne, along with the third and final season of Michael Lucas’s 1980s Australian period drama THE NEWSREADER for Werner Productions and the ABC starring Anna Torv and Sam Reid.
Other projects include: Amazon’s THE WHEEL OF TIME starring Rosamund Pike and Madeline Madden, TRIBECA shortlist 12 HOUR SHIFT starring David Arquette, and Blumhouse Productions’ THE FIRST PURGE.
Notable Directors Gypsy has collaborated with include: James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, Baz Luhrmann, Jennifer Kent, Rafe Judkins, Uta Briesewitz, James Mangold, Michael Apted, Andy Tennant, Bryan Singer, Gavin Hood, Alex Proyas, Justin Kurzel, Minkie Spiro and John Sheedy.
Past credits include: Walt Disney’s PANDORA – THE WORLD OF AVATAR – collaborating with Walt Disney Imagineering & James Cameron’s company LEI Lightstorm, New Form Digital’s award-winning series OSCAR’S HOTEL FOR FANTASTICAL CREATURES, WILD OATS starring Shirley MacLaine, Jessica Lange & Demi Moore, Character concept design for THE BABADOOK, ALIEN: COVENANT and Peter Jackson’s, MORTAL ENGINES. Assistant Costume Designer on THE WOLVERINE, Storyboard assistant for Shaun Tan’s Academy Award winning short film THE LOST THING.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Design from NIDA in 1994, Gypsy worked as Catherine Martin’s Costume Design Assistant & Illustrator on Baz Luhrmann’s AUSTRALIA, ALEXANDER THE GREAT and CHANEL NO.5, as well as Catherine Martin’s homewares range.
Gypsy won the Streamy Award for Costume Design on OSCAR’S HOTEL FOR FANTASTICAL CREATURES in 2016. Other nominations include: Best Scenic Design at the Helpmann Awards for Shaun Tan’s THE RED TREE in 2012 and Best Illustration at the Australian Production Designers Guild Awards for THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER in 2010.
