Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Screenwriting) from the Australian Film Television & Radio School in 1995. He attended the Dramatic Writing Program at New York University’s Tisch School of Screenwriting as part of an exchange program in 1993. In 1995 he spent six months in the Script Development Department of James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment in Los Angeles. While in LA he sold Decathlon, an action feature, to Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions.

Steve’s screenplay for Bootmen, an action dance feature based on the Tap Dogs stage show was produced by Fox Searchlight in 2000. It had a worldwide cinema release in 2001 and won five Australian Film Institute awards.

In 1998 Steve wrote the bible and numerous episodes of the action adventure TV series Big Sky for Southern Star John Edwards. In 2001 he wrote the telemovie Hard Knox for Southern Star John Edwards and New Line Television. In 2001 Steve was a staff writer for The Jim Henson Company’s Farscape, the Saturn Award winning television series. He also scripted the Farscape feature film reboot and his latest film, Go!, a family film for See Pictures will premiere at Cinefest in 2019 and will be released early 2020 through Roadshow.   Paper Planes, the children’s adventure movie Steve wrote with director Robert Connolly was released in cinemas in Australia through Roadshow in 2015.

Steve  novelised the screenplays of both Paper Planes and Go ! for young reader’s  published by Puffin. Paper Planes was nominated for the 2015 AWGIE for Best Original Screenplay and won the 2015 AACTA Award for Best Original Screenplay. Velocity, Steve’s best-selling action adventure novel was published in 2012 by Penguin. Its sequel Combustion was published in 2013. Quick, Steve’s third action novel, was published in 2014. Apart from the above projects Steve has also developed feature and television projects with Fox-Icon, Working Title, Southern Star, Jeff Hayes’ Blue Water Productions, Filmgraphics and Omnilab.
