Laura Murphy’s passion for music theatre has led her to the forefront of composing new Australian work.
Laura began composing in 2009, writing the music and lyrics for William and Sparkles’ Magical Tales with Ambience Entertainment on the Nine Network. She then went onto compose and write the spin-off series Magical Tales: Surprises which was broadcast on 9GO!.
Laura composed and wrote the lyrics for television programs Imagination Train and I Am Me (9GO!) and is currently in early development composing original songs for Ambience Entertainment’s new series THE AGENCY.
Laura is the composer and lyricist for the critically acclaimed new original musical THE DISMISSAL. She completed the co-orchestrations and arrangements for the project which is currently being developed into a main stage production for 2021.
Most recently Laura wrote the additional music for The Rise and Disguise of Elizabeth R which played at the Hayes Theatre starring Gerry Connolly and directed by Shaun Rennie.
Laura is currently developing a number of her own projects, including THE LOVERS, a pop-infused reimagining of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and is in early development to write the music and lyrics for a stage adaptation of the iconic Australian novel Puberty Blues, produced by Garry McQuinn.
