Charles Williams is an acclaimed Australian film director, writer and producer; winner of more than 60 international awards including Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film Award Palme d’Or.
Charles grew up in a remote country town in northern Victoria, Australia. He began making short films at an early age and was picking up major awards while still in his teens.
Since then, his films have gone on to screen at more than 200 of the world’s most prestigious festivals including Cannes, TIFF, Clermont-Ferrand, Sydney, Telluride, MIFF, Hong Kong, Rotterdam, Busan and SXSW.
His latest short film, the Palme d’Or winning ALL THESE CREATURES, won numerous accolades including the Australian Academy Award (AACTA) and is now available as part of the Criterion Collection.
Charles’ first feature INSIDE, premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival and will have its international premiere at a soon to be announced US festival. During development of the feature, INSIDE was selected as part of TIFF’s 2019 Filmmaker Lab as well as the Golden Globes 2020 HFPA Residency. Charles is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences®.
