Grace Chapple is an Australian playwright and screenwriter living in London.
Her debut play, NEVER CLOSER, was nominated for multiple national playwriting awards, including an Australian Writers’ Guild award. It was produced as part of Belvoir Street Theatre’s 2022 downstairs season, before being reprogrammed in the main season in 2024. Her next play – an adaptation of E.M. Forster’s A ROOM WITH A VIEW – will be co-produced by Belvoir and Melbourne Theatre Company in 2026. Grace’s new original play, THE LANDLORD is currently being developed under commission from Belvoir, and was awarded the Blake Beckett Trust Award in 2025.
Grace is an alumna of NIDA’s MFA, Sydney Theatre Company’s Emerging Writers’ Group, AWG’s First Break program, and ATYP’s National Studio. For screen, Grace has worked in writing rooms for Flying Bark and Northern Pictures, as a script coordinator with the ABC/Roadshow Rough Diamond, and as a notetaker across the industry for 5 years.
