ABC greenlights ‘PARENT UP’ and ‘THE PM’S DAUGHTER’

In exciting news, the ABC have greenlit PARENT UP – a new comedy action series for 8-13 year olds with episodes directed by Darlene Johnson and written by Tristram Baumber. Tristram’s political comedy-drama series THE PM’S DAUGHTER has also been given the greenlight, with writers including Angela McDonald.

Studio Canal Back Keith Thompson and Katherine Thomson

Studiocanal Australia and Goalpost Pictures are developing a feature based on the true story of members of the Vienna Mozart Boys’ Choir and their choirmaster who were trapped in Australia during World War II. Keith Thompson (The Sapphires, Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You, Hoges) is writing the first draft and Goalpost’s Rosemary Bright will produce. The second project backed by the fund is Helena, a biopic about the Polish-Australian-American cosmetics businesswoman, art collector and philanthropist Helena Rubinstein. Armfield’s Hamlet to be broadcast on BBC

The much anticipated return of Detective Robin Griffin has turned out big numbers as Jane Campion’s series Top of the Lake: China Girl airs to 130,700 viewers. “These numbers, which do not include all streaming figures, make it the second most watched show on Foxtel this year after Game of Thrones.
