The New South Wales Premier’s literary awards winners were announced last night among them Dame Jane Campion was announced the joint recipient of the Betty Rowland Prize for Script writing. Jane Campion to take Cologne Film Festival Top Prize

Dame Jane Campion will be in Cologne this year to accept the Film Award. The annual prize is given to those who have made an “outstanding contribution to the further development of film and media through their work”. The 27th Film Festival Cologne runs from September 29 to October 6. Four Australians in International Cinematography Awards

Four Australian Cinematographers have been selected for the inaugural IMAGO International Awards for Cinematography. IMAGO is the European Federation of Cinematographers, a collaborative global umbrella encompassing the world’s Cinematographers Societies. The awards will be held October 28th 2017 in Helsinki. Hot Shots Announced

Screen Australia has selected 11 emerging filmmaking teams to share in $989,000 of Hot Shots Plus funding. Writer Anya Beyersdorf’s Bondi 1hr Foto is among those selected. From producer Nash Edgerton, writer Anya Beyersdorf and director Sean Kruck Bondi 1hr Foto is set in 1980s Bondi Beach, the short centres on a teenage girl’s clash with her father and will set the tone for a feature film about an underworld figure dealing with family, crime and police corruption. AACTA Short Film Nominees

The 7th AACTA Award Short Film Nominees have been released with two HLA clients making the cut. MRS MCCUTCHEON directed by John Sheedy and Luci Shroder’s SLAPPER have been nominated. MRS MCCUTCEHON aims to give a voice to the thousands of trans and gender diverse children and SLAPPER follows a rebellious and broke teen in Australian suburbia. Winners are announced in December. Andrew Bovell is STC’s new Patrick White Fellow

Playwright Andrew Bovell is Sydney Theatre Company’s new Patrick White Fellow, following on from writers including Tommy Murphy, Kate Mulvany, Angela Betzien, Hilary Bell, Patricia Cornelius and Raimondo Cortese. The $25,000 fellowship goes to an established playwright each year in recognition of their body of work, and includes a commission from the company to be developed over the course of the year. The Fellow also collaborates extensively with other artists working at STC.
