Rita is an award-winning costume designer for film and television. Motivated by the power of costume in good storytelling, Rita strives to enrich character development and the overall production with her design choices.
Returning after a successful Season 2, Rita is happy to be back designing the third season of the global hit comedy COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS. Made for Binge, it stars Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall, directed by Trent O’Donnell and produced by Easy Tiger.
In 2025 Rita took on the iconic, international series NCIS: SYDNEY (Season 3), designing 20 episodes screening on Paramount+ and primetime CBS in the US. The show is produced by Endemol Shine Australia, Paramount and CBS.
In 2024 Rita designed back-to-back shows for Jungle and Stan. SUNNY NIGHTS was directed by Trent O’Donnell and starred US comedy legends Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden. 8 ep comedy HE HAD IT COMING was directed by Rachel House and Anne Renton, starring Lydia West, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Liv Hewson.
Rita designed Seasons 1 & 2 of Netflix hit reboot of HEARTBREAK HIGH, directed by Gracie Otto, Neil Sharma and Jessie Oldfield & Adam Murfet, and produced by Fremantle. Rita received the AACTA and APDG awards for Best Costume Design for her work on Season 1. HEARTBREAK HIGH has had huge global success and was awarded an International Emmy Award. Rita was again nominated for an AACTA award for her work on Season 2.
Rita’s feature films include romantic comedy FIVE BLIND DATES for Amazon, directed by Shawn Seet; LONG STORY SHORT directed by Josh Lawson and starring Rafe Spall and Zahra Newman; HEARTS AND BONES directed by Ben Lawrence and starring Hugo Weaving which screened in competition at the Sydney and Toronto Film Festivals; and LUNACY directed by Daniel Askill and starring Isabel Lucas and Lily Sullivan.
Her other television work includes ABC comedy series MOTHER AND SON directed by Neil Sharma and starring Denise Scott and Matt Okine; ABC comedy series PREPPERS directed by Steven McGregor and starring Nakkiah Lui; 2 seasons of Stan comedy THE OTHER GUY directed by Kacie Anning and Gracie Otto and starring Matt Okine and Harriet Dyer; 2 seasons of HARDBALL directed by Darren Ashton for the ABC which won an International Emmy Award; THE JUSTINE CLARKE SHOW directed by Justine Flynn; and HERE COME THE HABIBS! directed by Darren Ashton for Channel 9.
Rita has styled campaigns for major brands including McDonalds, Westfield, Hyundai, Domain, Lynx, Optus, Telstra and Mitsubishi. She has also worked internationally styling footage for the opening ceremony of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.
Rita is a 2007 NIDA design graduate.
