Rachel wrote and directed two short films, BLINDMAN’S BLUFF (2000) and THE BIG HOUSE (2001). She directed the SBS short feature film MARTHA’S NEW COAT in 2002.
MARTHA’S NEW COAT and THE BIG HOUSE both won Film Critics’ Circle Awards for Best Short Film and THE BIG HOUSE won Best Short Film at the 2001 AFI Awards.
All three of her shorts were sold commercially and screened in International Festivals and competitions, such as Sundance and the Clermont Ferrand.
Rachel adapted and directed her first feature film, BEAUTIFUL KATE in 2009 starring Ben Mendleson, Rachel Griffiths and Bryan Brown. It premiered as the Sydney International Film Festival as Closing Film and won an IF Award for Cinematography and was nominated for 10 AFI (Australian Film Industry) Awards including Best Direction. BEAUTIFUL KATE can be seen via US iTunes.
Rachel’s television directing credits include HEART ATTACK (2005), an episode of the TWISTED TALES series starring Greta Saatchi for Channel 9 and episodes of RAKE (2010), MY PLACE (2010), THE STRAITS (2011/12) and AN ACCIDENTAL SOLDIER (2012), a telemovie , all for ABC TV and was set up director on the award winning miniseries THE DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND for Foxtel.
Rachel’s second feature, PALM BEACH, starring Bryan Brown, Sam Neill and Great Scacchi was released in 2019. She has a project in development with Hoodlum/Lucky Chap/ABC.
