Alan is one of Australia’s most prolific composers for theatre, television and film. In the past 25 years he has contributed scores to over a hundred productions including, for Neil Armfield at Company B, SUMMER OF THE SEVENTEENTH DOLL, THE TEMPEST, AS YOU LIKE IT, THE DIARY OF A MADMAN and STUFF HAPPENS; for Sydney Theatre Company THE WHITE GUARD, MOTHER COURAGE, HEDDA GABLER, A DOLL’S HOUSE, and for Bell Shakespeare THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, ROMEO AND JULIET, HENRY V, HENRY IV, THE WINTER’S TALE. Major music theatre works include HOW TO KILL YOUR HUSBAND for Victorian Opera, THE EIGHTH WONDER (with Denis Watkins) for Opera Australia,JONAH (with John Romeril), STRANGE HARVEST (with Nick Enright) and THE ADVENTURES OF SNUGGLEPOT AND CUDDLEPIE (with John Clarke and Doug Macleod). He is also a sought after composer for the screen, credits including MISSING WATER; LOOKING FOR ALIBRANDI; THE BANK (Winner 2002 APRA Awards – Best Music, Feature Film); THE SHARK NET (Winner 2004 APRA Awards – Best Music, Mini Series/Telemovie);THREE DOLLARS (nominated for AFI and APRA Awards, Best Music, Feature Film); three episodes of the acclaimed seriesLOVE MY WAY and the soundtrack for the Foxtel series DANGEROUS (nominated 2007 APRA Awards – Best Music for a Television Series or Serial). Other screen credits include The ABC TV mini series THE FARM; Jessica Hobbs’ acclaimed short film SO CLOSE TO HOME and Bruce Petty’s ABC TV animated short series HUMAN CONTRAPTIONS (Winner 2003 APRA Awards – Best Music for Short Film).
