Genevieve is a Sydney-based costume designer who is drawn to projects that allow for deep character exploration; not only through what they wear, but why they wear it. Genevieve’s creative process involves approaching costume through the lens of character psychology, collaborating closely with actors and directors to establish trust early in the design process to create nuanced, authentic characters.
Genevieve recently designed the costumes for the upcoming STAN four-part series, CARELESS, for Easy Tiger and Synchronicity. Prior to this she designed Season 2 of comedy series, AUSTIN, starring Michael Theo for the ABC.
In 2024 Genevieve designed, OPTICS, for Easy Tiger, written by and starring Jenna Owen, Vic Zerbst, and Charles Firth. Genevieve also designed, APPETITE, for SBS and, THE DISPOSABLES, for ABC ME, and Season 2 of Channel Seven’s television series, DROP DEAD WEIRD.
Genevieve is also an accomplished theatre designer, having worked extensively for the Ensemble Theatre on shows including DIPLOMACY, THE APPLETON LADIES’ POTATO RACE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE QUEEN’S NANNY and COLDER THAN HERE, collaborating with acclaimed directors such as John Bell, Priscilla Jackman, Janine Watson, and Damien Ryan.
Genevieve graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design for Performance) and a Master of Fine Arts (Design for Performance). In her final year, she designed costumes for the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra’s new opera, BITTERSWEET OBSESSIONS, later returning in 2024 to design costumes for NOTRE DAME, with the same company.
