Steven is a highly skilled theatrical artist working as a composer, writer, music director, pianist, orchestrator, producer and cabaret performer.
Steven is the writer and composer of PHAR LAP: THE ELECTRO SWING MUSICAL which premiered to great acclaim at the Hayes Theatre in 2025.
Steven has worked extensively with the Hayes Theatre Company since its founding in 2014 with productions including LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, CALAMITY JANE, ASSASSINS, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, RENT, LOVEBiTES, SHE LOVES ME, SIDE SHOW, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN and JEKYLL AND HIDE for which he won the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Musical Direction.
As a pianist Steven has worked with many acclaimed companies and artists including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Paloma Faith, The City Recital Hall, Trevor Ashley and Kate Ceberano. He has also worked on commercial productions of MARY POPPINS, CHICAGO, FROZEN, BEAUTIFUL and THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
Steven is passionate about new Australian work and has worked as an arranger and orchestrator on shows including THE DISMISSAL (Squabbalogic), ZOMBIE: THE MUSICAL! (Hayes Theatre), EVIE MAY (Hayes Theatre), THE SECRET SINGER (Darlinghurst), NEVER LET ME GO (Griffin) and NOSFERATUTU (Griffin). He collaborated with Courtney Act to write the opening number for the Sydney World Pride Domain Concert, which was broadcast on ABC.
In 2020, as part of Curveball Creative, he produced and musically directed the acclaimed live-streamed musical WHO’S YOUR BHAGDADDY, OR HOW ISTARTED THE IRAQ WAR which received Critics Pick by the New York Times and streamed on Broadway HD.
Steven’s award-winning one-man original cabaret I SING SONGS has been performed nationwide. He has also written original music for THERE’S NO ONE NEW AROUND YOU (Keira Daley, Mark Simpson), NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH (Illuminate Educate) and IN STITCHES (Alex Giles). Steven was commissioned by Translucent Duo to write a double concerto for Saxophone, Marimba and Orchestra which has had multiple performances.
Steven is currently the Associate Musical Director for Crossroads Live ANASTASIA.
