Alyssa is an award-winning director/writer based in Sydney. She graduated from the University of Technology Sydney, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications: Media Arts and Production, where she majored in Directing.

Alyssa has a wonderful, darkly comedic sensibility, exemplifying a unique perspective in telling stories that are fundamentally optimistic through her crafting of performances and distinctive worlds.

In 2009 Alyssa wrote, directed and co-produced her first short film EMILIA ECKLE which enjoyed a successful festival run, winning various awards and playing opening nights at the Palms Springs International Short Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, Dungog Film Festival and Reel Shorts Film Festival in Canada, where it was voted in the Top 5 Best Short Films.

In 2010 her short NIC AND SHAUNA, which Alyssa directed and produced, was chosen as a Tropfest finalist.

Alyssa’s most recent short film SECOND BEST won the Dendy Award for Best Live Action Short Film at the 2018 Sydney Film Festival. It also picked up the award for Best Direction in an Australian Short Film at Flickerfest International Short Film Festival 2018, the Best Short Film Award at the Milano Film Festival 2018, the Scotiabank Best Foreign Film Award at the 2018 Lake Shorts Film Festival and the Youth Award at the 20MinMax Film Festival in Germany 2018. Second Best played at Melbourne International Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, Milwaukee International Film Festival, Encounters Film Festival, Busan International Short Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, Heartland Indyshorts Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Nantucket Film Festival and Newport Beach Film Festival, to name a few

Her web-series ONE STEP CLOSER TO HOME, which she wrote, directed, produced and starred in, has had two successful seasons, both of which screened at the 2012 and 2016 LA WebFest. The series was nominated for a number of awards at the festival including Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Cinematography in a Comedy and Outstanding Lead Actor. The series won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress.

Alyssa has enjoyed great success as a respected commercial director. Her advertising work has won the coveted Black Pencil at the D&AD Awards and the award for Direction at the London International Awards. Alyssa was also the winner of the 2012 InStyle Magazine Woman Of Style Award scholarship for her work as a filmmaker.
