Paul’s biography/memoir of life on the road with The Doug Anthony Allstars – D.A.A.S. THEIR PART IN MY DOWNFALL – was published by Allen & Unwin and released in November 2016. His well-received non-fiction memoir of his father’s wartime experiences ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE, was published by Allen & Unwin, and released in November 2013.

In 2017 Paul wrote and featured in the final episode of series one of Ambience Entertainment’s television series DROP DEAD WEIRD.

From 2007-2010 Paul was a co-writer on the animated feature film HAPPY FEET TWO (released in cinemas November 2011) creating the characters of the krill, Bill & Will voiced by Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. Penguin books released Paul’s novelisation of the screenplay, HAPPY FEET TWO: THE NOVEL in October 2011.

From 2008-2012 Paul joined the writing team for Network Ten’s GOOD NEWS WEEK, for which he received five AWGIE awards; 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013. Paul ended 2011 writing for GOOD NEWS WORLD, a satirical sketch comedy program for the Ten Network. In 2015 Paul was a regular writer for SBS Television’s ROOM 101 series.

Paul has written nine radio plays to date, all produced and premiered on ABC’s Radio National Airplay program from 2005-2012. They include: HER MASTER’S VOICE 2005, ONE EYE ON VENUS 2006, THIS HIDEOUS PROGENY 2006, GOING DOWN 2007, THE MAN UNDERGROUND 2007 (adapted from the Kenneth Cook novel), SIX WHITE BOOMERS 2008, NO PLACE LIKE HOLMES 2009, GRINNING AT THE LID 2011 and an adaption of Sonya Hartnett’s novel PRINCES in 2012.

In 2001 Neil Armfield directed Paul’s first stage play EMMA’S NOSE for Belvoir Street Theatre in Sydney, which also transferred to La Boite Theatre Company in Brisbane.

Paul’s feature film acting credits include: BABE, BABE: PIG IN THE CITY, SWEETIE, UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD, CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION, DARK CITY and THE NAVIGATOR (AFI nomination for Best Supporting Actor).

From 1990-2017 Paul has performed as his comic persona Flacco touring extensively in Australia and internationally with regular appearances at festivals in Edinburgh and Montreal. His many television credits include THE BIG GIG and GOOD NEWS WEEK and was a regular on the TRIPLE J BREAKFAST program from 1994-97. FLACCO’S BURNT OFFERINGS was published by Penguin books1996 who also published Paul’s first novel THE DIRT BATH in 1998. Allen & Unwin released his satirical self-help guide RELEASING THE IMBECILE WITHIN in 2003. From 1998-2001 Paul was a weekly contributor to the Australian Weekend Magazine with THE FLACCO FILES, an illustrated commentary on the state of being published by Allen and Unwin in 1999 with a second expanded volume in 2000.

In 1996 Paul was the joint winner of the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award for outstanding achievement in the performing arts in Australia.

In 2010 Paul was a finalist for the AWG/Kit Denton Fellowship Award.
